The AugustHeart Young Athlete Heart Screening Program provides free heart screenings to students, ages 14-18, in San Antonio and surrounding counties.

The AugustHeart screening process takes approximately 20 minutes and includes a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG), which monitors the heart’s electrical activity to detect rhythm disorders, and a limited 2-D echocardiogram (ECHO) to provide an image of the heart. A conventional ECHO performed in an office with a cardiologist is expensive and is rarely covered by medical insurance plans. Using a two-minute ECHO technique, AugustHeart can conduct ECHOs for a fraction of the cost. These costs are absorbed by AugustHeart and supporting sponsors, making heart screenings to students, ages 14-18, in San Antonio and surrounding counties.
